Andre Russell was seen applauding Ishant Sharma after the senior Indian pacer bowled a toe-crushing yorker to dismiss him during the IPL 2024 match played at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (April 3). The incident took place on the first ball of the 20th over of KKR's innings.
Russell, who became the first KKR batter to complete 200 sixes in the IPL earlier during the day, had no answer to Ishant’s delivery. After getting clean bowled by the senior Indian pacer, the 35-year-old West Indies all-rounder clapped for him in appreciation for his super effort while on his way back to the pavilion.
Before returning to the dugout, Russell faced 19 balls on Wednesday during KKR’s third match of IPL 2024 and hammered four fours and three sixes. He added 56 runs for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Iyer and 32 with Rinku Singh for the fifth wicket to help KKR post a total of 22 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
